The goal of the Provincial Air Quality Subscription Service is to improve communication between governments and citizens during air quality events in a timely manner. It currently offers email and text message notification services (Short Message Service or SMS) for Air Quality Advisories and Smoky Skies Bulletins across British Columbia, and SO2 Alerts for the Kitimat Pilot Project.

Metro Vancouver has developed and implemented (and continues to do so) plans, policies, regulations, and projects that improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These plans and policies are supported by comprehensive monitoring of outdoor air quality, and tracking of emissions in the Lower Fraser Valley airshed. One resource compiled by Metro Vancouver is a fact sheet on how you can prepare for smoky skies which can help you learn about updated advisories, show you advisories on the interactive AirMap, is a hub for highway webcam images, and provides tips to keep yourself safe when air quality deteriorates.
