Parenting Support for 2SLGBTQIA+ and Indigenous Parents

Provided by Pacific Postpartum Support Society

Provides support to 2SLGBTQIA+ parents, Indigenous parents, and their families who are experiencing mental health challenges during pregnancy and the postpartum period or during their adoption or surrogacy journey.
The following services are provided:

Telephone and Text support: Experienced postpartum counsellors offer telephone counselling, postpartum support information and referrals. Telephone support is available to anyone who is pregnant or parenting a child under the age of 3, or is supporting someone who is. No referral is necessary to get telephone support. Weekly Two Spirit, Queer, & Trans Postpartum Support Group (Tuesdays: 10:30 AM - Noon): Offers province-wide support groups, both in-person and online for queer, trans parent and 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals. Those interested in joining a support group are encouraged to call the number below to determine eligibility and obtain information about the group schedule and availability. This confidential peer support group is led by a queer facilitator who is trained in perinatal mood disorders including postpartum depression and anxiety.

Support Groups for Indigenous Parents Offers monthly Indigenous Parents Support Circle. Individuals interested in joining a support group are encouraged to call the number below to determine eligibility and obtain information about the group schedule and availability. The support groups, led by trained group facilitators, offer a safe space for new parents with babies under 18 months old to connect, share experiences, and receive information and emotional support.
